"The Board of Curators of the University of Missouri recognizes that academic honesty is essential for the intellectual life of the University" (Academic Honesty and Student Code of Conduct). To support faculty and students in upholding standards of academic integrity, UMKC provides instructors and students with the option to use Turnitin (Turn It In), which is a plagiarism prevention and detection tool.

In this free one-hour training, you will explore aspects of Turnitin as an integrated tool in Canvas. By the end of the training, participants will be able to:

  • Discuss the "Plagiarism Spectrum" in an effort to educate students about the various types of plagiarism;
  • Identify the two methods for using Turnitin in Canvas;
  • Determine the best method for using Turnitin for assignments;
  • Access and review Turnitin Similarity Reports through Canvas.

This synchronous, online training will be held in Jennifer Sackhoff's Zoom room at
