At UMKC, you get a choice between two learning management systems: 1.) Blackboard and 2.) Moodle. Moodle is a open-source learning management system at UMKC. Like Blackboard, instructors and trainers use Moodle to store and organize learning content for students and it becomes a hub for instructor-student communication. It functions similar to Blackboard. When an instructor gets a teaching assignment, a course site is automatically created in both Blackboard and Moodle. The instructor gets a choice between the two LMSs depending on their preferences. In this course, you will learn how to build your course from the ground up. You will learn how to add, modify, and delete content from your course site, create assessments, learn how to add Web 2.0 tools like Wikis and blogs, and you will learn how to use the grade book. This is a one day, intensive course and by the end of it, you will have a complete online course you can use to teach. Note: If you have content from your course, please bring that. If not, a practice course with content will be provided.
